Nope, I am not a "flower child"... but, I have hugged a tree or so :)

Over half of the world's life forms (plants and animals) are living in the rainforests which are being destroyed. "Every second, a slice of rainforest the size of a football field is mowed down. That's 86,400 football fields of rainforest per day, or over 31 million football fields of rainforest each year. More than 56,000 square miles of natural forest are lost each year." (Rainforest Action Network)

Yes, our world, the planet, our Mother Earth is unbalanced. We humans are the ones responsible for the resolutions to the destruction we have caused. We are in danger. Along side global warming and the pollution of everything, are the nuclear waste problems and issues... all of which can be irreparable. (As I have heard it said, "If we do not change our direction soon, we will end up where we are headed.")

What I don't understand is why... aren't the major corporations' heads and stockholders, who are behind all the "progress" - destruction of rainforests, also human? Don't they have children and grandchildren also? How is it that they do not worry for even their own decendants? ... Is money's power actually that strong?... Or could it be that they took a vote and most agree that the world as we know it really is going to cease in a few years?

If you aren't currently involved in nature, or environmental issues, at least check on some of this information from the following resources. Don't miss the forest because of a tree.
